Ghoorni
Ghoorni - My review
Having missed the first show I was determined not to miss this one especially as it was in my hometown Oldham . I went in not knowing exactly what to expect only that Jesmin Chowdhury and Apu Chowdhury are legends in Bangladeshi creative arts.
The play was mesmerising. It transported me back to my village in Bangladesh —from the serenity of rural life to the struggles people faced .It touched on everything that matters to me: our history, our identity, our struggles, and our pride.
From the Language Movement to the fight for independence, from storms and cyclones to climate change, from health issues to the beauty of mango picking and cricket — it captured the soul of Bangladesh. The live music and storytelling made it feel like stepping into the past
All the themes were beautifully woven together in this one play
It was emotional , nostalgic and powerful
A massive well done and heartfelt thanks to the entire cast and everyone who worked behind the scenes.
